€3,000 raised by Naas LTC for St. Brigid's Hospice

On Sunday 9th November a group of ladies from Naas LTC got together to play tennis and raise money in aid of St. Brigid's Hospice. This event was our way of commemorating the late Sylvia Sixsmith who was a great supporter and friend to us all in the club.   36 ladies braved it out in the torrential rain for social tennis and afterwards were treated to a fabulous meal.

Just €3,000 was raised for St. Brigid's Hospice in honour of Sylvia and we would like to thank everyone for digging deep and supporting this wonderful cause.  A special thanks to Liz Hogan and Eva O'Reilly who organised this memorable occasion.

Congratulations to our Over 35 Ladies Team for winning Class 1 in the DLTC Senior League Programme!

Monica O'Neill (Capt) & Ellen Cassells
Emma Allen & Olivia Allen
Jane Saulter & Joan Maher

The finals were held in Naas LTC on Sunday the 19th of October.  The first sets of all matches were extremely close in difficult conditions.  The third Naas pairing, albeit fighting hard, lost the second set of their match, and were off first.  They were followed soon after by the winning pair of Monica and Ellen from Naas, leaving it up to the Allen sisters to fight it out in front of a packed audience in Naas LTC.  At 5-5 it was touch and go, but the dynamic sister team pulled ahead with positive play, and won the second set 7-5.

This gave Naas their first win in this league that has been in existence since 1979.

As a team throughout the campaign, the team only lost 1 point in the league part out of a possible 15, and then won the semi-final convincingly before becoming League Champions after the final on Sunday.

Well done from NaasLTC!
